Dear Parents and Carers,

Firstly, thank you for all you support during this period.  We hope you are managing to keep safe and well – because ultimately, that is what matters.  We have loved seeing work that the children have done, and equally, we’ve enjoyed hearing about what else they’ve gotten up to, which is just as important, if not more so.

The government has announced a potential phased reopening of school sites from June 1 if science suggests that this is safe.  While mainstream schools have been asked to reopen to certain year groups, special schools such as ourselves should ‘work towards welcoming back as many children and young people as can be safely catered for in their setting… and consider creating part time attendance rotas so that as many children as possible can benefit from attending’.

This is what we are planning over the next week; how we can safely open the site so we can begin to transition our pupils back into school life at a pace that minimises everyone’s anxiety.  Our priority is keeping children and staff safe, and settling children into what will be a setting that has to have different rules and expectations from what they are used to.  This will be carefully thought out

I know you will be keen to find out when and how your child will return.  Next week we will be in touch with further details.  In the meantime, we will continue as we have been over the last few weeks.

Please take care and get in touch if we can support in any way.

Best wishes,

Sarah Makin
